Utilizing Nokia phones and the mobile application from Qik, Peter and I devised a mobile game of scavenger hunt Taboo. We divided the class into groups of three. Each team received a pile of cards. Each card had an object and a list of taboo words. One person, the scavenger, took a phone and left the classroom. The goal was to get the scavenger to find the objects on the cards by using the chat feature on the Qik application without using the taboo words.
In order for us to keep track, we streamed in each user onto a collective website. Although we couldn’t see the chats, and therefore couldn’t really prevent cheating, we could oversee the way the game was going.
